Priganice

Priganice are a type of deep-fried dough balls commonly served in Montenegro, Serbia and other Balkan countries.
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 2 small cups (like the size of a single use plastic cup) of yogurt
- 4 small cups of all-purpose flour (type 500)
- whole bag of baking powder (10 grams)
- ¾ teaspoon of salt
- sunflower oil for frying
- honey for serving
Directions
Mix together eggs, yogurt, salt and baking powder.
Gradually add flour and mix until you no longer see lumps in dough and the dough becomes elastic. Don't overmix.
Preheat oil in a cooking pot. The oil shouldn't be too hot or the dough balls will burn on the outside and be raw on the inside. However, it should be hot enough to prevent dough balls from frying for too long which will result in them absorbing too much oil and becoming soggy and greasy.
Grab two tablespoons and dip them in hot oil. Use one of them to scoop a little bit of dough (I grab a piece that's approximately ⅔ tbsp in size). Use the other spoon to gently scrape the dough off the first spoon and push it into the hot oil to fry. The shape should resemble a ball, but don't worry if the shape isn't perfect.
Try frying one or two priganice first and adjust temperature as needed. Also prepare a big bowl for them and put a paper towel in it to absorb excess oil.
Fry until golden or slightly golden brown and serve with honey for dipping.
